Happy Halloween :)

Vince and I have a VERY busy Halloween weekend planned, but I am really excited!

Tonight we are going out with his family to celebrate his brother's 30th birthday and then after dinner we need to carve our pumpkins (which we bought awhile ago but never had time to do). Saturday obviously is Halloween, so since we have the party that night I need to get the cleaning and cooking done before our doorbell starts ringing with little kids wanting candy. I love handing out candy to kids, they are always so cute in their little costumes :) I already have a big bowl of candy down in the foyer just waiting for the first trick or treaters..

Then at 8 we have about 30 of our favorite people coming over to celebrate! (and to watch the PHILLIES of course!) On Sunday our neighbors are having a little party at their house at 1 for the E A G L E S game, which we are going to have to leave a little early from to make it to our hot air balloon ride (so excited!) at 4 :) We will then finish off the weekend with dinner at Ludwigs (a cute little restaurant with great food).

Well, like I said it's going to be a busy weekend, but it should all be a lot of fun! (wish I could take off work Monday to relax from all that fun haha) Hope you guys all have a great Halloween weekend too! :)

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful to have a job I really enjoy and also very thankful that I have satellite radio in my car to keep me entertained as I drive around doing that job all day :)

I was reminded today how thankful I am that I am no longer in high school... you couldn't pay me enough to go back and have to deal with all that b.s drama anymore

I am thankful for all of the technology available these days so that even though my family moved and now lives in Missouri, I can still talk to them whenever I want through phones/emails/webcams etc.

I am thankful for Vince giving me my anniversary gift early so that we can go in a hot air balloon ride this weekend when it's still not freezing and while the leaves are still pretty colors <3

I am thankful for everyone offering to bring food and drinks to our Halloween party Saturday so I don't have to worry about doing it all :)

And lastly, I am thankful for Vince calling and asking if I want to go out to dinner tonight so I don't have to worry about making anything!

Wishful Wednesday take 2:

Ok, so this was my first "wishful wednesday" post and I was just reading other peoples posts and realized I messed up.... I was supposed to write my answer to the statement, 'I wish' .... I was six years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be _____!So, I am going to try this again:

'I wish' .... I was six years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be Hannah Montana...

.. because if I was 6 then I would probably be a Miley Cyrus fan, but since I am 24 I obviously am way too old for that... ;-)

Wishful Wednesday

I wish that I was going on my honeymoon again next month like I was this time last year.

We went to the Dominican Republic and it was g o r g e o u s. We wanted it to be just about us and nothing else, so we turned our cell phones off the ENTIRE week and only checked our emails twice (in case we missed something important) and we had the best vacation ever!

Oh and PS- I also wish for the PHILLIES to win the world series :)

Quick. Easy. Delicious.

Since it was a cold and rainy day I was thinking about making a big pot of warm chicken noodle soup for dinner, but then I remembered I had a great simple recipe for chicken noodle casserole which sounded even better.  So I made that instead and was glad I did because it was REALLY good :)

(I forgot to take a picture of mine before I had already served it, so this is the one from the recipe, but it doesn't have the French's fried onions)

I changed just a couple things in the recipe and Vince and I both really liked it. If you ever want a quick and easy meal this is a great option.

Ingredients:
2 cups cooked chicken
2 cups egg noodles, cooked and drained (I like the medium size)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cups frozen mixed veggies (I also added some cut up celery, but you don't have to)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup french's fried onions
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt

Mix everything (except cheddar cheese and fried onions) and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Then take out and sprinkle the cheese and friend onions on top and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes (or whenever the onions are a little crispy and the cheese is melted). Then let cool for a few minutes and enjoy. ;-)

Not Me! Monday

I did not pre-order New Moon tickets for the first weekend the movie comes out, I would never be that obsessed with a teen love story... I also did not just finish reading New Moon for the 2nd time to get ready for the movie.. nope not me

I did not get bored last Monday night and decide to dye my hair using a box of hair color and my hair did not turn out o r a n g e... (and just fyi i did however fix my hair so I no longer look like a freak)

I did not go out and spend way too much money on a long brown wig for my halloween costume, nope that would be completely unnecessary and that is not something I would do just to wear one night.. definitely not me

I did not go see Paranormal Activity again because my friends wanted to and I did not get even more freaked out seeing it for a second time, I am an adult and scary movies do not bother me at all.. nope not me

I did not go out with friends Saturday night and drink way more than needed, and that did not result in me sleeping in late Sunday morning and then craving gross greasy fast food.. ugh I would never eat that stuff... not me

I did not pick Ty up from the groomers yesterday and get really annoyed that the lady cut his hair way too short even though she knows I don't like it short like that.. clearly I know it's just hair and it will grow back, I would never get upset about something so silly...

Halloween Treats

So next Saturday is Halloween (yay!) and Vince and I decided to have a halloween party! (after all the kids in our neighborhood are done trick or treating of course!) So I am starting to look up some themed appetizers to make for the party :) I have found a ton of quick and easy recipes, but these are some of my favorites:

Mini Pumpkins (aka cheese balls with pretzels)

Deviled eggs with olives for spiders

Eyeballs (mini doughnut dipped in white chocolate)

Spider cookies

We will have some other basic food and dips, but I thought these would be fun to make too :)

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the warm weather these past couple days, it's such a nice change after the freezing cold rain last week.... I know it's going to get cold again, but for now it's nice to pretend it will stay this way ;)

I am thankful for all the nice and funny people in the booths around me at the trade show, they made the past 2 days go by soooo much faster

I am VERY thankful for the Phillies winning last night... WORLD SERIES here we come! :o)

I am thankful that tomorrow is Friday, because it's been a crazy busy week at work (which also means I am thankful for DVR yet again this week because I didn't get to watch any of my favorite shows haha)

I am thankful for a weekend with not too much planned other than a double date at the movies with one of my favorite couples <3

and lastly I am thankful for getting my hair color fixed so it's blonde and not orange... that's a whole other story I will tell later on ;-)

Weekend Recap

Here's a brief recap of my nice, somewhat busy (but still relaxing) weekend..

Friday after work I met Vince and couple friends out for dinner and drinks while we watched the Phillies game (which unfortunately they lost).. then went home and watched a movie with Vince and Ty <3

Saturday morning I went with Vince to buy his new car, a 2009 Honda Accord:

(it was pouring down rain all day Saturday otherwise I would have gotten a picture of his actual car, but this is exactly what it looks like haha)

My mom flew here on Saturday afternoon from Missouri (she goes back on Wednesday), this is the first time I have seen her in 3 months and I am so excited she is here! That night I went with her and a couple of her friends to Bonefish (mmm.. bang bang shrimp) for dinner and drinks (and to watch the Hokie football game, which didn't go as I had hoped..) We capped the day off back home with hot chocolate and a little tv <3

Yesterday the three of us had breakfast at Happy Days Diner (vince and I are both big fans of going to breakfast on Sundays), then Vince spent the day with his brother and playing with his new toy (i mean car) while I spent the day shopping and going to a movie with my mom (one of my favorite ways to spend a day). We went and saw Paranormal Activity... OH MY GOODNESS..... I LOVE scary movies, but this was SO scary! (good, but scary) I spent most of the movie with my stomach in knots and hugging my knees to my chest haha. So, if you want a good scare I definitely recommend it ;)

The weekend ended with me, my mom, and Vince having dinner at La Tolteca (our favorite Mexican restaurant) and watching the Eagles lose (ughhh), and then renting a movie and hanging out at the house with Ty. (We also watched some of the Phillies game, and finally for the first time this weekend I saw a win from one of my sports teams!)

So like I said, it was good weekend (minus the Hokies, Eagles, and Phillies all losing a game). I still have a couple more days with my mom here and so far our plans seem to be about the same: shopping, eating, watching movies... and maybe a little hair dying ;-)

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for heated seats and an automatic starter on my car for cold rainy days like today..

I am very thankful for my blackberry making it possible to get emails to and from anyone instantly.. my job would be so much harder without it

I am thankful for my puppy who likes to sleep curled up by feet every night, he keeps my toes nice and warm ;)

I am thankful for my mom coming to see me this weekend... My family lives in Missouri so I haven't seen them in a few months and I am definitely in need of some mommy time <3

I am thankful for dvr so I never have to worry about missing any of my favorite shows (and I have a LOT of them)

I am thankful for my wedding bands being fixed.. it's felt so weird not wearing any rings this past week.

I am extremely thankful for a husband who is so good at making me laugh even on days when all I want to do is cry... (i love you <3)

it's getting c o l d

It's starting to get really cold and while I love the fall I am NOT a big fan of the cold. The whole morning at work I was freezinggg and was craving something warm... so on my break instead of getting lunch I went home and quickly made chili and left it in the crock pot. There's nothing better than a pot of hot soup on a cold day. ;o)

It was so nice when I got done work and opened my front door and could smell our yummy warm dinner just waiting...

now if vince could just hurry up and get home so we could eat it, that would be great.

My New Found Obsession

Recently my future sister-in-law introduced me to Prescriptives makeup and skincare lines and I have since become obsessed. I still use some other brands of makeup and face wash... but there are now 3 items from Presciptives that I can't go a day without ;-)

1. Moonbeam Eyeliner (comes in 4 shades, my personal favorite is beaming willow)

2. Moonbeam Lip Gloss (seriously the softest lip gloss everrrr.... my fav shade is Galaxy)

3. last but MOST important of all: Super Line Preventor Xtreme. I have become slightly obsessed with anti-aging products and this is the BEST.

Love this stuff ;-)

My #1 Weakness..

Shoes.

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot." -Marilyn Monroe

Hi, my name's Jenna and I am addicted to S H O E S. I love them... all kinds.. any color... I can't help it. I can't even tell you how many pairs of shoes I own that I have never worn because I don't have the right outfit to go with them. It's a problem, I know it. I am trying to cut back on buying them, but sometimes when I've had a bad day I like to shop and a new pair of shoes always seems to make me s m i l e. <3

9 y e a r s

Yesterday was 9 years since the hubby and I first started dating. (not sure you can really consider it dating when you're 15 and you have to have your parents drive you everywhere.. but you get the point) When we got married we said we would stop celebrating our dating anniversary and celebrate our wedding one instead.

So yesterday we woke up and still said the whole "happy anniversary.. can't believe it's been 9 years.. yada yada yada.." and that was that. Well about halfway through the day I was talking to Vince and he said he felt odd not doing anything for our anniversary since we have been celebrating Oct. 8th for years. So, we decided to go to out dinner, nothing fancy (no complaints from me, just meant I didn't have to cook!) and then after dinner we got home and vince opened a bottle of champagne and we toasted to the past 9 years and to the  many more to come <3

We wont do anything big to celebrate our dating anniversary anymore, but we will probably always go to dinner just because October 8th, 2000 will always be a special day to us <3

Sick Husband = Sleepy Wife

So Vince was up sick half the night, which means I too was up extremely late (last I looked at the clock it was almost 4am!). Even though I do feel bad he is sick, I couldn't help but be a little annoyed when my alarm went off at 6:30 this morning and he got to call out of work and go back to bed while I had to get up... ugh. So, needless to say it was one of those mornings where I pressed the snooze button multiple times and then had to go to work with wet hair because I was running so late.

Now I am blogging as a last ditch effort to keep myself from falling asleep on my keyboard...

Is it Friday yet??

Not Me Monday..

Ugh is the weekend really over already? Well, guess that means it's time for the "not me monday" post...

I did not sleep in until 11am on Sunday and then go downstairs and lay on the couch watching tv for hours while my husband went grocery shopping and other things... nope not me, i'm never that lazy.

I did not throw clothes into the dryer on Saturday and then let them just sit there knowing they will be all wrinkled just because I don't feel like folding them... of course not, I am a much better housewife than that.

I did not leave my office and go home to finish up work last week when I saw a big bug walking around my desk... nope not me, I am not scared of a bug. (but seriously that thing was BIG and had lots of legssss)

I did not spend the first hour (or more) of my day today checking out all of my favorite celebrity blogs... I am not that obsessed with celebrity gossip. Nope not me.

I love weddings <3

Vince's cousin Dan got married yesterday to his longtime girlfriend Erin. They are such a fun and beautiful couple, and their wedding was just as fun and beautiful <3

Why do I do this to myself??

It is now October, which means it is officially the month of Halloween (one of my favorite holidays). So to start the holiday off a small group of us are going to one of those haunted house things tonight. In the past we have always gone to Jason's Woods, which I always thought was pretty scary (for example: the first time I went I was in 6th grade and CRIED until they turned on the lights.. and then 2 years ago I was there and I got so freaked out I dropped my purse while running out of the room and then a friend had to go back and get it because I refused to go back in... embarrassing, but true)

Every year I always get super excited to go (as I am now) but as soon as I get in the line outside I start to get nervous and then the closer and closer I get to the entrance the more I want to turn around and go home (now obviously I know it's people just acting and I see 7 yr olds going in and laughing, but for some reason it really does freak me out).... So now the question is why do I put myself through this? It's not like I actually like being scared... but I guess maybe it's just part of the thrill of it? (either that or I'm just c r a z y)

Well anyways this year we have decided to change things up a bit and go to the Wall of Terror at the Eastern State Penitentiary which is supposed to be a LOT scarier than Jason's Woods... great. Well, I am hoping that maybe for once I can make it through like a mature adult rather than the screaming little girl I usually turn into. Besides, this place doesn't look scary at all...
